The U20 European Championship of Pully reached the end of the group stage. France-England, Spain-Andorra, Germany-Italy and Switzerland-Portugal are the quarterfinals.
Tonight the first phase of the U20 European Championship of Pully ended. All the eight teams go to the quarterfinals that will be played tomorrow, Thursday, October 26, following a “cross scheme” that put the first of one group against the worst of the other.
Portugal in group A and France in group B are the winners of the first phase: they will not play against until the final. Portugal is the only team that won all the games; tonight, the defending champion beat Andorra after an amazing game, balanced until the end, during which Andorra tried to keep the 2nd place, without succeeding. The 2nd place of the group A goes to Italy that obtained the clearest victory of the day: 9-0 to England that is fourth in its group.
In group B, France won 9-2 with Germany doing better than Spain (4-1 to Switzerland). Having a better goal difference, the Franch team kept the first place of the group, leaving Spain in the second. Despite the defeat, Germany closes the first phase at the third place while Switzerland ended fourth.
Starting from tomorrow the knockout phase begins with the quarterfinals.
