Portugal and Germany leads the groups after the 1st day

Only two winnings in the opening day of the Championship: Portugal against England and Germany against Switzerland. Italy-Andorra and France-Spain tied.

Two ties, one winning by one point and the large victory of Portugal against England after that the 1st half ended 1-1. This is the summary of the 1st day at the 50th U20 European Championship in Pully, Switzerland. A summary that talks about one of the most balanced U20 championship ever.
Two of the favorites, Italy and Spain, were stopped by Andorra and France in their debut game. Italy, in particular, had to recover from 0-2 against Andorra and only succeeded in the last minutes of the game. On the contrary, Spain suffered the come back of France from 1-3 to 3-3.
The largest winning of the day was the one of Portugal against England. Nevertheless, the 1st half was very balanced (1-1), with England scoring first and Portugal drawing only a few seconds before half time. In the 2nd half, the defending champion found regularly the way to score and the game ended 8-1. Portugal is the leader of group A.
The most exciting game of the 1st day in Pully has been Switzerland-Germany: many goals, lot of emotions, the result continuously changing. Germany ahead by two goals, then the overtaking of the home team, supported by hundreds of fans; then again the decisive come back of the german team that won 6-5 and now leads the group B.
