In the quarterfinals, Italy and Portugal got large victories against Germany and Switzerland, while France and Spain suffered against England and Andorra.
The first day of the knockout phase gave to France, Spain, Italy and Portugal the pass for the semifinals of tomorrow. For Italy and Portugal, the quarterfinal has been quite easy to win; Germany and Switzerland can’t stand the strength of their opponents and both the games ended with a large result: Italy won against Germany 7-2 and Portugal against Switzerland 7-0.
The other games of the day were more balanced. The gap between Spain and Andorra was quite clear, but Andorra resisted for a long time and limited the final result to 3-0. The most exciting game of the day has been France-England. Despite opposing the first qualified of one group to the last of the other, the match has been uncertain until the last second. France won 3-2, thanks to a tougher team and to many errors of England that failed two penalties and two direct hit during the game.
On Friday, the semifinals for the 1st/4th places will be France-Italy and Spain-Portugal (the teams that end at the first two places of the qualifying groups), while those for 5th/8th place England-Germany and Andorra-Switzerland.
