690

The 39th edition of the WS Europe Cup Final Four will be hosted by the city of Lleida, with the organization of Club Esportiu Lleida i Llista Blava. It is the second consecutive time that a Final Four will be played in the Pavellò Onze de Setembre (1500 seats), in the north-west province of Catalunya, the third organization in a couple of years after the organization from FC Barcelona of Euroleague Final Four (2017) in the Pavellò Barris Nord. Last year the title has been won from the home team of Lleida: they will try to win the second consecutive euro-title ahead of their supporters. A back-to-back happened recently only to the portoguese Barcelos: but they will fight against other three clubs very well-equipped, above all Voltregà, semifinalist last year. Considering the last 7 edition of the former Cers Cup, in four editions (2012, 2013, 2016, 2018) the Final Four’s home team won the competition and in five editions at least reached the Final (2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018).

Two derbies will mark this 39th Final Phase of the competition. The italian derby between Sarzana and Valdagno: Sarzana is the second time in their history in a Final Four of WS Europe Cup, after the defeat in Viareggio’s 2017 F4 after the semifinal against Barcelos. Valdagno returns to play a semifinal after the 2010 Euroleague Final Six and recently the last appearance in Euroleague quarter-final 4 years ago against Barcelona. On 2008 the best results in Cers Cup: second place after Tenerife. Two the match played this season in “Serie A1” championship, where Valdagno won both, 7-3 and 5-4: best scorer for them Gaston De Oro (3 goals), for Sarzana Danilo Rampulla (4 goals).

The second derby (at 20.45) will be played between the home team Lleida and Voltregà. Both have conquered the qualification during last year, but only Lleida reach the final thanks to the victory against the italian Breganze in overtimes and in the final through the penalties after an amazing final against Barcelos. Voltregà has been beaten from Barcelos for 5-2 in the semifinal. In the unique match played this season, Lleida won 6-2 in Ok Lliga Championship (2 goals for Oruste, R. Di Benedetto and Creus, 1 for Vargas and Manrubia for Voltregà).

In this season the best scorers of the 4 semi-finalist teams, was Massimo Tataranni (Captain of Valdagno) with 14 goals, Dario Gimenez (Valdagno) 10, Danilo Rampulla (Sarzana) 7, Cesar Candanedo (Lleida) 6, Eric Vargas (Voltregà) 5.
